Hello everybody,
The region I'm about to recommend is not a memorable holiday destination but where I've been living for the past 40 years. I'm talking about the French Jura, and the town of Saint-Claude. The Jura is a spectacular mountain region with a French and Swiss side (we're only an hour's drive from Geneva). At present it appears to be almost unknown in England (most foreign tourists are Dutch) but is well worth spending a few days in, and produces good quality, distinctive-tasting wines. Saint-Claude itself has a modern, recently renovated camping site with a decently-sized swimming pool within easy reach. The only problem can be the weather. If you're very unlucky it can rain - even in August. But be assured that a visit is well worth the risk. To give you an idea I've pinned some photos of the town and region on my Pinterest Board.
